The Intellectual Guardians of Dhaka
Dhaka once hummed with the constant presence of crows. These birds, often overlooked, were the city's unintentional guardians. Known as one of the most intellectually advanced avian species, crows played a vital role in Dhaka's urban ecosystem. As natural scavengers, they helped keep our streets clean by managing organic waste, effectively serving as the city's traditional, non-human cleaning crew. Their intelligence—comparable to that of primates—allowed them to thrive and coexist alongside millions of people for generations.
The Silent Disappearance
In recent years, the sky over Dhaka has grown quieter. The once-abundant population of crows is barely seen in the city today. Rapid urbanization, the loss of nesting trees, and the changing landscape of waste disposal have all contributed to their decline. The disappearance of these birds is a silent warning signal of an ecosystem out of balance. When the city's most resilient birds can no longer thrive, it raises important questions about the environmental health of our shared home.
Our Mission: Save the Crow
At softswala, our Corporate Social Responsibility is focused on restoring the harmony between the city and its avian guardians. We understand that a thriving city is one where technology and nature coexist. Our CSR goal is to save the crow population in Dhaka through awareness, habitat restoration support, and community engagement.
